The Catholic Employer Health Alliance (CEHA) is proud to announce that it has received an official Statement of Plan Document Compliance from the Center for Theology & Ethics in Catholic Health—a milestone that marks an important moment for both the Trust and Catholic employee health benefits.
Following a comprehensive review, the Center confirmed that CEHA’s revised Plan Document fully complies, in all material respects, with the 7th Edition of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs), as revised by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in 2025. The Center also affirmed that the Plan Document aligns with Catholic moral teaching in all material respects.
What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that this is the first Statement of Plan Document Compliance the Center for Theology & Ethics in Catholic Health has ever issued.
For Catholic employers, navigating employee health benefits while remaining faithful to Church teaching has become increasingly complex. This independent review provides reassurance that CEHA’s health plan has been evaluated by the nation’s leading Catholic ethics organization and found to be consistent with the Church’s most current ethical guidance.
The Statement remains valid unless the Trust makes substantive changes to its Plan Document, the USCCB publishes a future revision of the Ethical and Religious Directives, or Catholic moral teaching develops on issues relevant to the Plan. The Center and CEHA will also meet annually to confirm continued compliance.
As Catholic organizations continue seeking health benefit solutions that faithfully reflect their mission, this recognition reinforces CEHA’s dedication to providing benefit plans grounded in both high-quality care and Catholic teaching.
