Our History

The O’Grady Catholic Health Trust (Trust) was formed in 2011.  Its mission is to offer low-cost, high quality healthcare benefit plans to Catholic Charities agencies and other Catholic organizations for the benefit of employees and their families.  Sponsored by Catholic Charities USA, the Trust’s Summary Plan Document (SPD) states the Plan shall at all times comply with the Ethical and Religious Directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).  The Board of Trustees elected to form the Trust as a Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA) plan to avoid the application of state statutes and regulations that could compromise the intent of having the Plans operate consistent with Catholic social teaching.

As of January 2025, the Trust proudly serves ten participating employers, with over 4,000 members enrolled.
